The release of our 2021 SEMPERVIRENS Chardonnay begins a new chapter in our winemaking journey. A single barrel, originally part of the 2021 ‘This Must Be The Place’ Chardonnay from Vivid Vineyard, stood out for its potential to evolve into something extraordinary. Aged on lees for three years, this limited-production Chardonnay reflects the essence of patience and care. The SEMPERVIRENS label, Coastal Redwood tree rings, symbolizes the story of time—each ring a record of growth, rest, and resilience. Just as these rings chronicle the life of a tree, this wine tells a story of time, devotion, and the balance of nature and nurture. A wine destined to age gracefully for decades.
The aromatic profile of this Chardonnay highlights a slightly more pronounced wood influence than our other Chards, followed by scents of citrus zest, lavender, and wet stone that blend with a hazelnut crème brûlée aroma, enhancing the yellow fruit character. As the wine breathes, these aromas become even more defined. On the palate, notes of peach blossom, yellow plum, golden delicious, nectarine, and lemon are balanced by bright acidity and a stony, citrus-driven energy adds a lively edge. The wine has a rich concentration, yet it glides smoothly with impressive persistence. The finish is long, lingering with toasty layers and stones.
